Bewley, James Hughes

James Hughes Bewley was the son of Edward and Margaret Bewley of Ash View Alltami, born at Bryn y Baal in about 1896. He was seriously wounded fighting in Egypt against the Turks.  Private Bewley was 19 years of age when he died from his wounds in a hospital in Port Said, Egypt, and had been on active service for three months.  Prior to joining the colours he was employed on Government work at Queensferry. The family was living at Bryn y Baal in 1911. Father Edward was a coal miner. James had an elder brother Thomas and a younger brother Samuel.

James is remembered on the family grave at St. Matthews.
