Jellicoe, Henry

Henry Jellicoe was the son of John and Elizabeth Jellicoe, and husband of Helen Jellicoe of Broseley, Salop. Henry was christened 31 March 1889 at Barnston, Cheshire. Barnston is on the Wirral near Heswall. In 1891 the family was at Pensby, Barnston, Cheshire: John a farmer, mother Elizabeth, James 19, Margaret 13, George 11, Mary 9, Emily 7, John 6, Frederick 4, Henry 2 Thomas 4 months. In 1901 the family has moved to Poulton cum Spital, Lower Bebington, Cheshire. In 1911 the family is at Ewloe Green Farm, Liverpool Road, Buckley. Henry, 22 was living with widowed mother, Elizabeth, and sister Emily who had married Frederick Jones.

 

Henry Jellicoe married Helen Kitson, 1914, West Derby Liverpool. Henry is listed under Shotton in the County of Flint index, with address, Rose Cottage, Aston. This author has not found Helen in census records but there are Kitsons in Broseley. As shown by the CWGC records it appears that Helen moved to Broseley after Henry died. From a tree on Ancestry, Henry’s sister Emily and Frederick Jones had a son Leslie Jones.

Also in loving memory of John beloved husband of Elizabeth Jellicoe the father of the above who died January 1st 1911 age 67 years. “Thy will be done”

Elizabeth Jellicoe pf 19 Cardigan St. Birkenhead was buried at St Matthew 29th May 1920

Henry died of pneumonia in Egypt over 4 months after the armistice.
