Edward Davies was the son of Ruth and Edward Davies of Ewloe Green. Edward was buried at St. Matthew’s on 15th July 1920 and was granted a Commonwealth War Graves Commission memorial showing that he had served in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. His Medal Card shows that he entered France 4th December 1915 and he was demobilized 15th January 1919.
Edward was not named originally on the Hawkesbury Memorial but was added in 2020
Edward Davies, an engine driver, married Ruth Jones in 1872. Their son, Edward Davies was baptised at Dt. Matthew’s 6th March 1880. Their other children were Robert, John, Margaret, Jane, Robert, William. Edward Davies senior died in March 1905. The family lived at Parry’s Row, Ewloe Barn, near Oaks Farm.
Edward is remembered on the family grave at St. Matthew’s.

Also William son of the above Ruth & Edward Davies who died Feb. 6th 1954 age 65 years. Veteran of the Great War. “At Rest”
Another Edward Davies, a Corporal in the South Wales Borderers, was buried at Bistre 26th February 1919.
