Davies, Joseph

Joseph survived, he was honoured by the people of Queensferry by having his name put on the “Roll of Honour”.

There is an index card for Joseph Davies in The Flintshire Roll of Honour at The County Record office in Hawarden.  (Card Queensferry L19). It gives the address  ‘Ship Yard, Queensferry’.  It says his Period of Service was 2 years. The card was signed by J. Davies,  31st (?) September 1919.

Joseph’s medal index card is accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk . It confirms he was Private 123998 of The Royal Army Medical Corps. The card tells us he had enlisted on 8th August 1917 and was discharged on the 20th March 1919. (I have a little more detail from this source. Please contact me via the website if you wish  to know more).

He is also on the “Absent Voter’s List – 1918” , which is in the Flintshire Record Office in Hawarden, and confirms that is home address was ‘The Ship Yard’  and also his regimental details. This source tells us he was in the 316th Field Ambulance.    He was number 5489 in the Queensferry Ward on the list.
