Pritchard, David Ernest

David Ernest Pritchard was born in Rhyl, Flintshire in 1891.

The 1901 Census shows that the family lived at 19 Kinmel Street, Rhyl, Flintshire.  The head of the family was Alfred Pritchard aged 37, a Baker.  His wife Mary Jane Pritchard aged 35 and their three children – David Ernest Pritchard aged 10, Alfred N Pritchard aged 9 and Jane Grace Pritchard aged 5 years.

David married Edith Jones on Monday 17 July 1916 at Wallasey Parish Church and they lived at Alwyn Cottage, Whitby, Wirral, Cheshire. David was by this time a self employed Baker and Confectioner.

He enlisted at the Recruitment Centre Ellesmere Port.

On 17 December 1917 a payment of £3. 10s. 5d. was made by the War Office to Edith Pritchard, being monies owed to her husband David.  On 12 December 1919, a further payment which is recorded as a War Gratuity of £3. 0s. 0d. was also made to her.

David is also remembered on a Remembrance Plaque at The Royal Alexandra Hospital, Marine Drive, Rhyl, Flintshire and on The North Wales Heroes Memorial Arch, Deiniol Road, Bangor, North Wales.
