Roberts, Jesse Horatio

There is an index card for Jesse Horatio Roberts in The Flintshire Roll of Honour in The County Record Office in Hawarden. This gives us the regimental information that appears at the top of this page. The address given is Steadley Cottage, Trelogan, Nr Holywell. It says ‘deceased July 30th 1916’. the card was signed in December 1919 by Robert Roberts.

UK soldiers who died in The Great War 1914-19, accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk confirms the regimental details. It says Jesse was born  and lived in Holywell. It tells us that he enlisted in Liverpool and this source tells he was killed in action in France and Flanders. His medal index card, also on Ancestry lists his three medals and adds that his first theatre of war was France and he entered it on the 7th November 1915

The Register of deceased soldier’s effects in which monies owed by the army were calculated, says that Jesse’s father’s name was Robert.

Jesse Horatio Roberts left a will which is listed in the England and Wales National Probate Calendar. Index of Wills and Administrations. It says;

Roberts Jesse Horatio of White Horse Farm Trelogan Llanasa Flintshire and of 62 Cranborne Road Sefton Park Liverpool a Private in the 19th Liverpool Regiment died on or since 30th July 1916 in France. Administration St Asaph 21st September to Robert Roberts Farmer. Effects £206..9s..4d

So far, I have been unable to trace the family in any census.
