There is a soldier named on Llanfynydd Memorial as Richard Rowlands. So far it has proved impossible to identify him.
There is however, an index card in the Flintshire Roll of Honour at The County Record Office for a Robert Owen Rowlands. This card is filed with the Llanfynydd ‘fallen’ cards. This is the only card for a Rowlands filed in Llanfynydd.
The card gives as the address Plas Maen Cottages Barracks Ffrwd. It says his regimental number was 150888 (when in fact it was15088). It confirms he was a Sergeant in The Royal Welsh Fusiliers and says he served for 18 months. The card was signed by Mrs Mabel Rowlands on the 20th October 1919
We are at this point in time assuming that the Rowlands on the Llanfynydd Memorial should in fact be Robert Owen Rowlands. If anyone can put us right on this one we would be very grateful.
Robert Owen Rowlands was also named on the Caergwrle Memorial. Follow the link to read his story
