The memorial was unveiled by Colonel Thomas Henry Parry DSO MP for Flintshire and Colonel of the 5th (Territorial Battalion) Royal Welsh Fusilliers, on Saturday 13th November 1920.The service of dedication was conducted by Cannon Redfern of Denbigh.

The memorial pedestal is of Aberdeen granite, completed by David Williams, stone mason from Denbigh. The three foot high bronze statue of a First World War infantryman was created by the sculptor John Tweed (1869-1933).
