This exhibition is well worth a visit, there are artefacts and a reconstruction of a W.W.1 shelter.

Christmas Truce 1914 and Beyond.

During Christmas of 1914, a series of spontaneous ceasfires occurred along the Western Front in Europe. These ceasfires lasted several days in some cases, enabling casualties to be cared for, and bodies to be retrieved. Troops from both sides of the war decorated their trenches with candles and Christmas trees; songs and carols were sung and tokens of friendship exchanged. This was only a temporary respite from the killing but the events have resonated across the decades and been reflected in popular culture.

This exhibition explores one such truce between members of the Royal Welch Fusiliers and their Saxon counterparts.  10th January – 12th April 2015
