Davies Glynne

Glynne was  born on the 7th April 1916, the son of Alfred and Margaret Davies and he grew up in Sychdyn with his siblings. He had a  brother called Emrys (who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident on the Aston Hill, in 1923)  and a sister called Mary Elizabeth who was known as Elsie.  The census of 1911 (before Glyn was born) places the family in Duke Street.

Glynne was a police officer in the Manchester City force before he joined the army. His address in Manchester was 22 Granville Avenue.  He married a Nerquis girl, Mair Williams. (Mair was a founding member of the teaching staff of Glanrafon, the Welsh language primary school in Mold). Family members believe that Glynne was involved in the ill fated Dieppe landings in 1942.

He died in 1943, we believe in hospital in the UK from dysentery. He was aged 27.  He was buried in the churchyard in Nerquis
