Frederick Ernest Pierce was born in Henllan in 1886. His parents Robert and Anne were married in 1883. Robert Pierce had previously been married in 1864, to Mary Hughes who died in 1880.
The 1891 Census on Ancestry.co.uk shows that the Pierce family were living at number 13 Luke Street, Saint Asaph. Head of the family, Robert Pierce age 45 a native of St. Asaph was a Gardener by trade. His wife Anne, 35 years of age was born in Denbigh and their children were Margaret E. age 10, Mafannwy age 8, Frederick Ernest age 4 and Robert D. age 2.
Robert Pierce (Frederick’s father) died on 20th July 1900.
Ten years on the 1901 census shows that the Pierce family were living at Upper Luke Street, St. Asaph and Head of the household was Anne Pierce, Widow age 45. The children still living at home were, Frederick Ernest age 15 a Gardener by trade, Robert David age 12, Lucy age 10, George age 7 and Harry Wilfred age 1.
The 1911 Census reveals that the Pierce family were living at a California Street, Saint Asaph. Head of the household was Anne Jane Pierce age 55 and her children still living at home were, Frederick E. age 25 a Domestic Gardener, George age 17 with the same trade as his brother and Harry Wilfred age 11.

This card shows that Frederick Ernest Pierce enlisted into the 5th Battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 4th August 1914. His address was Elwy View, Saint Asaph and he had served for six years in the Territorial Service. The card was dated 25th September 1919 and signed by W. Charles Jones.
I have not been able to locate a Service Record for Frederick.

04.08.1914 The 1/5th stationed at Flint and the 1/6th stationed at Carnarvon both as part of the North Wales Brigade of the Welsh division and then moved to Conway and then Northampton and then Cambridge.
May 1915 Moved to Bedford.
13.05.1915 Formation became 158th Brigade of the 53rd Division.
19.07.1915 Embarked for Gallipoli from Devonport, Plymouth via Imbros.
09.08.1915 Landed at Suvla Bay and engaged in various actions against the Turkish Army.
Frederick died on 29th August 1915 in number 19th General Hospital, Alexandria cause of death, Dysentry.
Frederick was awarded The 1915 Star, The British War Medal and The Victory Medal.
He is buried in Alexandria Military War Cemetery, Egypt.
