Terence’s parents, George Haddock and Jane Williamson, I do believe, married in West Derby in the March Quarter of 1880, (Vol. 8b, Page 738)  In 1881, the family lived at No 6 Vernon’s Buildings, it consisted fo George, 24, a Railway Assistant Storekeeper born Great Bridge, Staffs, and his wife Jane,25 born Chester, Cheshire.   Their new baby Ada 9 months old, completed the family.   I do believe that George’s father John Haddock, 59, born in Liverpool and his mother Ruth, 64, born in Kilmarnock, Scotland were living at No 1 Vernon’s Buildings, the address that the family were to live in for many years.

We skip to 1901 to when Terence was born and they were then living at No 1 Vernon’s Buildings, Head of the household was George Haddock, 46, an Assistant Storekeeper Railway Store, his wife Jane, was now age 44.   Son Bertram, 16 was an Apprentice at the Railway Wagon Works. Daughters Ethel, 14, Mabel, 12, Nora, 10, Kathleen, completed the daughters.   Sons Terence, 8, Frank, 6 and John, 2 completed the sons.

The 1911 census finds, as I said at the same address, George, 56 was a Storekeeper G.W.Ry Carr. Wagon Works and he had been married to Jane for 32 years.   Jane, 54, tells us that she had borne 10 children and sadly 1 had died.   Daughter Kathleen, 20, was a Clerk to a Painter and Decorator, whilst son Frank was an apprentice, perhaps to the same man? Son Terence, 18, was a Clerk to Chester Union Offices and youngest son John was age 12 and in school.

Terence enlisted on the 3rd September 1914, shortly after the War had started and on Ancestry there are Service records, and among them are many, many duplicates and blank papers in Terence’s 3 batches of Service records, numbering 8, 25 and 34 pages each.
