George Henry Tinman was born in Rhyl, Flintshire, North Wales in 1893.

The 1901 Census shows that the family lived at 6 Wellington Terrace, Rhy, Flintshire.  The head of the family was William Tinman aged 34, a Printer.  His wife Elizabeth Ann Tinman (nee Jones) aged 40 and their four children – Sophia Tinman aged 12, George Hendry Tinman aged 8, Sarah June Tinman aged 6 and Bertie Nicholas Tinman aged 1 year.

In 1911 George enlisted at the Recruitment Centre, Rhyl with 1st Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was embodied on the 1st November 1914 and joined the battalion on the 8th November 1914 and was stationed at Hightown Barracks, Wrexham, Denbighshire.

In 1913 he married Edith Hamaman of 50 Canal Bank, Port Dundas, Glasgow, Scotland.

On Monday 2 November 1914 he arrived in France, on the Western Front with the Battalion and was killed in action on 7 January 1915.

On 7 July 1915, a payment of £3. 1s. 6d. was made by the War Office to Mrs Edith Tinman, being monies owed to her husband George. On 17 September 1919, a further payment which is recorded as a War Gratuity of £3. 0s.0d. was also made to her.

He is also remembered on a Remembrance Plaque at The Royal Alexandra Hospital, Marine Drive, Rhyl, Flintshire and The North Wales Heroes Memorial Arch, Deiniol Road, Bangor, North Wales.
