Bernard George Fazakerley was born in Rhyl, Flintshire during 1879.
The 1891 Census shows that the family lived at 15-16 Bodfor Street, Rhyl, Flintshire. The head of the family was Mary Elizabeth Fazakerley aged 41, a Paint and Picture Dealer. She lived there with her five children- Mary Elizabeth Fazakerley aged 17, Catherine Fazakerley aged 13, Bernard George Fazakerley aged 12, Winifred Fazakerley aged 10 and Oswald Fazakerley aged 9 years. Also living with them was Mary’s mother Marie Almond aged 70 years.
On 2 April 1911, a census was taken which showed that the family now lived at 8 Edward Henry Street, Rhyl, Flintshire. Mary Elizabeth Fazakerley now 62, was a Lodging House Proprietor. Also living there was her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Fazakerley and son Bernard George Fazakerley, who was employed as a Joiner.
In May of that same year Bernard married Charlotte Griffiths and they began married life at 5 Kinmel Street, Rhyl, Flintshire.
On Tuesday 4 August 1914, Bernard enlisted with the 5th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers at the Recruitment Centre, Rhyl. On Monday 19 July 1915 he sailed from Devonport with the Battalion, via Alexandria to Gallipoli, arriving in Sulva Bay on Sunday 8 August 1915. He somehow survived that battle in which so many soldiers from 5th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers were killed or badly wounded.
On Wednesday 27 December 1916, Bernard now aged 37, died in a Manchester Military Hospital. The cause of death is not known.

The death has been reported of Company Quartermaster Sergeant Bernard George Fazakerley.
On 31 March 1917, a payment of £15.15s.4d was made by the War Office to Mrs Charlotte Fazakerley, being monies owed to her husband Bernard. On 24 October 1919, a further payment which is recorded as a War Gratuity of £15.10s.0d was also made to her.
Bernard George Fazakerley is also remembered on a Remembrance Plaque which is situated in the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Marine Drive, Rhyl, Flintshire and on The North Wales Heroes Memorial Arch, Deiniol Road, Bangor, North Wales.
There is a Flintshire Roll of Honour Card for him at the County Archives Office, Hawarden, which is dated 12 September 1919 and signed J.H.Jones.
