Saint, Owen

The Saint family lived in Northop Hall. The father was Henry, a collier and his mother was Margaret Catherine. They lived at 8 Brookside Crescent at the time of the Second World War but previously they had lived in a cottage which was part of ‘The Old Farm’, Northop. Owen had an older sister, Joyce and a younger brother, Freeman. The father, Henry died when the children were relatively young and the mother had to struggle alone to bring them up. It is said that she worked from time to time as a cook at some of the big houses in the district, such as Soughton Hall and Lower Soughton Hall.

Owen is also listed in the Book of Remembrance at Liverpool Cathedral
