Henry Turner is recorded on the 1911 census living at Chemistry, Pentre, Flintshire. Henry was 23, an Iron Worker, born in Bradley, Staffordshire. He was there with his wife of under 1 year, Ethel Beatrice, 20, who had been born in Liverpool.  (In the 1901 census she was living at 1, Chemical Work Cottages, Saltney (Flint), Queensferry, Cheshire with her family).

( Incidentally this was the address of my Mother’s family in the 1920′s).

Ethel Beatrice Massey had married Henry Turner in a Civil Ceremony at Hawarden in 1911 ( Vol. 11b, Page 305).

UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919 accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk  tells us that Henry’s place of birth was Bradley, Staffordshire and that he enlisted in Queensferry. His Medal Card also on ‘Ancestry’ onfirms his regimental details and lists his medals.

There is an index card for Henry Turner in The Flintshire Roll of Honour in The County Record Office at Hawarden. (Card F25 Queensferry). It  gives the address 56, Station Road, Queensferry. His period of service had been 16 months. He died of his wounds on the 28th October 1918. The card was signed by Ethel B. Turner on the 24th September 1919.  He died so close to the end of the war which ended on the 11th November 1918.
