Jones, Stanley

Stanley Jones was recorded on the 1901 census living with his family in Penyfordd. Head of the household was Frederick Jones who was a 28 year old Railway Platelayer who had been born in Northop. His wife Ann was 30 and their listed children were Arthur Lloyd 3 and Stanley 2.

In the next census of 1911, the family was living in Penyfordd,  Gwernaffield. Fred 38 was still a Platelayer. His wife of 16 years, Annie was 40. She had given birth to 5 children but two of them had not survived. The listed children were Arthur Lloyd, 13, a Stable Boy, Stanley 12 and Mary Elizabeth 9 were both at school.

UK Soldiers who Died in The Great War 1914 -19 accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk confirms Stanley’s Regimental details as above. It says he resided in Rhydygolau and that he enlisted in Mold. This source tells us he was ‘killed in action’ in France and Flanders. His Medal card, also on ‘Ancestry’ details his medal entitlement.

There is an  index card for him in The Flintshire Roll of Honour in The County Record Office in Hawarden but it is filed with the Mold cards.  The address given on the card is Hollands Row, Gwsaney.  It was signed by his father, Fred.

He also appears on the Mold memorial. .
