William Herbert Lloyd was born in Caerwys, Flintshire during 1899.

During early 1901 the family lived at Myrtle House, Caerwys, Flintshire.  The head of the family was Albert Lloyd aged 26, who was employed as a Blacksmith.  His wife Sarah Elizabeth Lloyd aged 25 and their son William Herbert Lloyd aged 2 years.

The 1911 Census shows that the family now lived at Hyfrdle, Caerwys.  Albert Lloyd was now employed as a County Blacksmith and General Repairer of Agricultural Machinery.  They also had one additional member of the family, Llewelyn Lloyd aged 10 years.

William Herbert Lloyd enlisted at the Drill Hall, Wrexham as a Private in the 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers during June 1918, serving in France for only 2 months before being killed.

On 19 May 1919 a payment of £16.18s.7d was made by the War Office to Albert Lloyd, this being £1.18s.7d owed to his son William and a payment of £5.0s.0d which is recorded as a War Gratuity.

He is also remembered on the North Wales Heroes Memorial Arch, Deiniol Road, Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales.

There is a Flintshire Roll of Honour card for him at the County Archives Office, Hawarden, which was completed by his mother Sarah Elizabeth Lloyd on 13 November 1919.
