CSgt Karl Stowell 2489685 served with the 1st Btn RWF. He was born in Buckley 4 June 1970 and enlisted c.1990 -1991.

Karl served in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, two tours in Iraq and one tour in Iraq with one leg. He developed a lump in his leg while serving in Northern Ireland and had to have it amputated. He died of cancer while still serving 4 September 2008 aged 38.

He is buried in a family grave in Buckley Cemetery. He married Gail Ffoulkes from Buckley in 1996 and they had two children, Leon and Georgia. He was buried with full military honours. His mother and sister live in Buckley: his widow lives in Upton.

Karl’s name was added to the Memorial in April 2020.
