From personal communication from descendant Mike Artell, John William Parry was the son of John and Margaret Parry who lived at 110 Brunswick Rd, Buckley. John William was baptised at Bistre on the  20th May 1894.

In 1901 the family was living at Lane End, Buckley: John Parry was the head of the household. He was aged 30, a collier – hewer; Margaret his wife was aged 29.  Their listed children were John W. son 7; Mary 6; Liza 4; Joseph 2; and James H. 2 months; all born Buckley. From family recollections the children later included Thomas and Fred.   Mary married Richard Lane in Liverpool in 1917. The family has not been found in the 1911 census.

UK Soldiers Who Died in The Great War 1914 -19 accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk includes an entry for John William Parry. It confirms the military details on the left of this page. This source says he was born in Mold and lived in Buckley and tells us he enlisted in Flint.

The death of Private John William Parry; aged 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Parry, of 110 Brunswick Road, is officially communicated. The sad event occurred on the 22nd September. The deceased soldier was with the 5th Batt. R.W.F. (Territorials), and before the war he worked as a bricklayer at Buckley.

The Register of Soldiers’ Effects in which the army calculated what moneys were owed to deceased soldiers (Ancestry) includes an entry for John William Parry which says his sole legatee was his Mother Margaret who received £6..9sh .. 0d in two separate payments

John William Parry was one of four Buckley soldiers killed at Gallipoli in August and September 1915, the others being Samuel Jones, Edward Roberts and Emrys Whitley.
