Rogers, Herbert

Herbert Rogers was the adopted son of Thomas and Mary Birks, White House, Mount Pleasant. Herbert was born 1 Feb 1893, baptised 24 March at St. Matthews, Buckley to Mary Ann Rogers a single woman. The 1901 and 1911 census show Herbert living as the adopted son of Thomas and Mary Birks at Mount Pleasant. In 1911 Herbert’s occupation was clay turner at brickworks. Thomas and Mary were listed as having had no children. Mary Ann Rogers may have been the daughter of John Rogers and Ann Berks. Thomas Berks would then be a great uncle to Herbert. Mary Ann may have later married James Peters.
