Edwin Williams, was born on the 6th February 1888. Upon enlistment into the Canadian armed forces, he gave his occupation as being a chauffeur. His Canadian enlistment papers state he was medically examined on the 3rd August 1914, his age was recorded as being 26 years 6 months old. He was 5’6″ tall, his chest measured 34.5″ with a range of expansion of 1.5″. He was further described as being of fair complexion, with brown eyes and hair. Edwin signed the oath on attestation dated the 23rd September 1914.
He was the son of Robert and Hannah Williams, Lily Terrace, Brynford. His brother was Lance Sergeant William Williams also commemorated on Brynford war memorial. Edwin was ‘Killed in Action’ 25th April 1915 and remembered with honour at Menin Gate Memorial Ypres.
