Stant, William Edward

William Stant appears on the 1911 census living with his family at Church Avenue, Bangor Isycoed. His father was Henry Stant a 49 year old labourer. Henry’s wife of 24 years was Margaret Stant. She had given birth to 8 children, 7 of whom had survived. The children listed at home on the census were  scholar William 13, Nellie 8 and Evelyn 2.

UK Soldiers who Died in The Great War 1914-19, accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk confirms the regimental details left. It adds that he enlisted in Wrexham. This source tells us he was ‘Killed in Action’.

There is an index card for William Stant in The Flintshire Roll of Honour at The County Record Office in Hawarden. It confirms the regimental details above and says he served in Ireland and France. The address given is Church Avenue Bangor.
