Last week it was our privilege to tell some of our stories to Deeside Probus Club. It was a special meeting that included the wives and partners of the club members and it began with a very nice lunch served at |The Country House Hotel in Northop Hall.

The lady sitting next to us at lunch chatted  and asked about the website and then she began to tell us about her Great Uncle, John Hough, who was named on the Hawarden Memorial and who died in Ceylon – as it was called in 1914.

We only have one soldier so far with a grave in Ceylon – or Sri Lanka as it is now called. His name is John Hough. It is the same grave that our local shopkeeper, Nad visited and photographed a few weeks ago and which we featured on this news blog.

Jean had not seen the website before and was amazed to be shown her Great Uncle’s grave and to see he had a’page’ on our website. She is now going to find some other memorabilia that she has that we will scan and add to his story.

How amazing is that?
