Jennifer Walters (a member of FWM’s Steering Committee), recently visited with her husband Derek, The National Memorial Arboretum at Lichfield Staffordshire. Whilst there they found and photographed the ‘Shot at Dawn’ memorial which consists of a statue and 306 posts – each representing an executed serviceman. Post number 226 had the name George Povey of the Cheshire Regiment who was executed on 11th February 1915 for allegedly ‘quitting his post’. He was 23. George is named on the Connah’s Quay/Shotton Memorial.
