Lynch, Frank

Frank Lynch was born in Manchester, England on 29 August 1896.

The 1901 Census shows that the family lived at 6 Gronant Street, Rhyl, Flintshire.  The head of the family was John Lynch aged 25, who was a self employed French Polisher.  His wife Elizabeth Lynch aged 33 – At that time they had one son, Frank Lynch aged 4 years.

Elizabeth Lynch died on 3 January 1905.

The family later moved to live at 146 Wellington Road, Rhyl.

In 1915 he enlisted with 8th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers and died on Tuesday 20 August 1918 at 39th Field Ambulance, Mesopotamia.

On 9 April 1919. a payment of £15. 2s. 4d. was made by the War Office to John Lynch, being monies owed to his son Frank.  On 29 October 1919, a further payment which is recorded as a War Gratuity of £17. 0s. 0d. was also made to him.

Frank is also remembered on a Remembrance plaque at The Royal Alexandra Hospital, Marine Drive, Rhyl, Flintshire and on The North Wales Heroes Memorial Arch, Deiniol Road, Bangor, North Wales.

There is a Flintshire Roll of Honour Card for him at the County Archives Office, Hawarden, Flintshire, which is undated and unsigned.
