Edwards, W T

William Thomas Edwards was born in 1894.

He was recorded living with his family at 7 Squares, Glandon Mostyn on the 1901 census. Head of the household was Thomas Edwards 30, a Railway Labourer. His wife was Ann Eliza who was 33. Their listed children were Harriet 13, William Thomas 7, Hannah Jane 5, Maggie Ellen 4 and Mary E 1.

Ten years later in the 1911 census, the family was still in the same house. Thomas Edwards was 41 and then listed as a Quay Labourer at The Ironworks in Mostyn. His wife of 18 years, Ann was 44. She had given birth to 10 children all of whom were still living. Those listed in the household on census night were William 17, a Domestic Gardener, Hannah J E 15, Mary E 14, Agnes 9, Beatrice7, Gwineth 6, David Arthur 4 and Rachel 2.

There is an index card for William Thomas Edwards in The Flintshire Roll of Honour at The County Record office in Hawarden. It gives the address 7, Squares Mostyn. The regimental details confirm those at the top of this page. The card tells us he served from 1st December 1915 until his death which was “about 14th May 1918”  The card was signed by W Vaughan Jones Vicar on 25th September 1919.
