Clayton, William Henry

William first appeared on a census in 1891. He was  aged 1 living with his family at No. 4, Blast Row Brymbo.  Head of the household was  James 37, a “Furnace Man”. his wife Ann was 35. Their listed children were  Barbara 14, Jane 12, Robert 9, Hugh 7,  Llewelyn 4 and William 1.

On the 1901 census they had moved to No. 2, Blast Road and 2 more children had been added to the family Joseph 8 and Annie 5.

By 1911 they lived at 6, Mount Zion, Brymbo. There were only 3 children recorded at home.  They were Joseph,  Annie and William (who was a Steam Crane Driver at the steel works).

The England and Wales FreeBMD Index Records available at Ancestry .co.uk state that in 1913 William married Edith Clancy.

From the Horton family tree at Ancestry .co.uk William and Edith had 2 children Sarah M born 1913 and William H.born 1915.

Uk,Soldiers died in the Great War 1914-1919 confirms his military details and that he enlisted in Caergwrle. His Medal Card states that William first entered a theatre of war in France on the 27th September 1915, less than 12 months later he died of his wounds.
