Robert Parry Evans was born about 1897. He was recorded on the census of 1911 living with his family at Ivy House Axton, Holywell. The census form had been completed in Welsh. The head of the household was Labourer John Evans 42,who had been born in Trelogan. His wife of 17 years was Ann Evans 40 had been born in Cwm.  She had given birth to 9 children but one had died. Their listed children were Edward Wynne 16 a Colliery Labourer (Surface), Robert Parry was 14, Sophia 13, Alice Jane 12, Gwladys 9, Ellen 7, Mary Elizabeth 6, John Elwen 5 and Catherine 3. All the children had been born in Axton.

UK Soldiers who Died in The Great War 1914 -19 accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk confirms the regimental details at the top of this page. It adds that he enlisted in Rhyl.  His medal index card also on ‘Ancestry’ lists his two medals and says ‘Dead’ 17.10. 18.

It is in the register of Soldier’s Effects that actually says he ‘Died of Wounds’

The card tells us that he served for 3 years and 6 months. This source says he was ‘Killed in action’. The card was signed by John Evans (Father)
