Jones, Joseph Morlais Reginald

Joseph Morlais Reginald Jones was born during the third quarter of 1890, his birth being registered in Holywell, Flintshire.

The 1891 Census tells us that the family lived at Mona Cottage, Mostyn Road, Greenfield, Flintshire.  The head of the family William Francis Jones aged 38 was away from the family home at the time of the census. His wife Sarah Ann Jones (nee Hughes) aged 33 and their 5 (five) children – Helen Violet Jones aged 13, Eva Lena Jones aged 7, Mildred Laurette Jones aged 4, Albert Cecil Hughes Jones aged 2 and Joseph Morlais Reginald Jones aged 6 months.

The 1911 Census shows that the family now live at North Villa, Greenfield, Flintshire.  William Francis Jones, who is now 58 years old is employed at Grosvenor Chater Paper Mill, Greenfield.  His wife Sarah Ann Jones who is 53 and the remaining children living at home – Helen Violet Jones, who is a Widow aged 33, Mildred Laurette Jones aged 23, an Assistant Council School Teacher, Albert Cecil Hughes Jones aged 22, a Seaman and Helen’s daughter Vivienne Bellis Jones aged 3 years.

John’s Will states that he lived at Brigydon Greenfield it confirms his death details and that he left £117 6s 11d to William Francis Jones mariner (retired)his father.

Albert Cecil Hughes Jones who was a Merchant Seaman survived the war and he died in Liverpool on 26 June 1934.

He is also remembered on The North Wales Heroes Memorial Arch, Deiniol Road, Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales.

There is no Flintshire Roll of Honour card for Joseph Morlais Reginald Jones at the County Archives Office, Hawarden.
