David Edwards is a fairly common name in this area. Finding the right David Edwards on census returns has been a bit problematic and in fact, we got the wrong man when this page was originally written. Here are the details of a second David Edwards and hope that this is the right one. Please let us know if you think we might still be wrong.

The 1901 census records a David Edwards living with his family at Mount View, Whitford, Mostyn. Head of the household was Thomas Edwards aged 48, a Collier Hewer. His wife Ruth was 42. Their listed children were Edward T 11 and David who was 3.

Ten years later in the 1911 census, the family was recorded living at 2 Dee View terrace, Penyfordd, Ffynongroyw, Mostyn. Thomas 59 was still a Collier/Hewer. His wife was this time named Charlot (enumerator’s spelling). She was aged 55 and they had been married for 3 years. She had borne no children. Presumably Thomas’s first wife Ruth, had died. Thomas’s three children from that marriage were listed. Thomas 21 was a a Labourer, Loader underground. David was 13 and John Henry was 7. The two younger boys were at school.

David Edwards is also named on the Picton memorial.

David is also remembered on the Bangor Memorial Arch – http://www.bangorcivicsociety.org.uk/pages/arch/DSCF4394.htm
