Bagby,  C

There is no index card for C Bagby in The Flintshire Roll of Honour at The County Record Office in Hawarden.   The only Bagby recorded at Flintshire Record Office is :-

Bagby James
5 Fisherman’s Road Connah’s Quay FL Serviceman 1919 D/DM/181 Connah’s Quay L9 but this soldier is listed as a survivor.

I  became aware that although the cards were given out, I don’t think that all were returned as it seems there are a lot missing.    They were given out to the families and as is usual with things like this, some people do not fill in forms and return them.     I am also wondering if the name was given wrongly, as it seems James survived the war, because I cannot find a C. BAGBY anywhere, neither in the CWGC or the website of Ancestry (Medal Index Cards and Service Records).     It would explain a lot of things.  I have searched the North Wales BMD Index and the Cheshire BMD’s for deaths and there was no BAGBY entries on either that fit.

1918 AND 1919 Absent Voter’s Lists show that James BAGBY was still living at 5, Fisherman’s Road, Connah’s Quay.  (Trans to Res. 8/11/19)

1913 Electoral Roll Volume 2 – BAGBY, James, 5, Fisherman’s Road, Connah’s Quay.

However someone put his name forward to be engraved on the Cenotaph so there must be some information somewhere, but up to now I cannot find it.

Any help would be appreciated as so far it has proved impossible to find any information.
