Davison, Frederick

Frederick Davison was the son of Fanny (Frances) Davison of Daisy Hill and the late Sergeant Major Edward Davison of the Buckley Engineers. Edward Davison married Frances Roberts at Bistre, 8th October 1870. Fred was born in 1893. Edward Davison died in August 1907 and Fanny in March 1919.

In 1901 Fred was 8 living at Daisy Hill with Edward 54 coal miner, Fanny 48, Mary E 14, Thomas 31, Henry 24, Richard 20, Charles 19, Morris 15, Arthur 11, Robert 17, Maggie 9, and Edward 6. By 1911 Edward had died and Fred was a brickworker living with his widowed mother, and Mary E , Thomas , Morris , Arthur , Robert , Maggie , and Edward. A local newspaper reported that Fred played with several local football teams.

From his Medal Card Frederick entered France 2nd December 1915 and so served at the Front 18 months before he died.

Note that another Frederick Davison from Buckley was killed in the war but originally only one Frederick Davison (no “d”) was listed on the Memorial. Both are listed in the County of Flint Index. Frederick Davison from Brook St. was a Private in the King’s Liverpool. He died 30 May 1915 and is buried at Pont du Hem Military Cemetery, La Gorgue, France
