Frank Stuart Lloyd was born in Wrexham in 1893 at Eyton House near Wrexham. He was one of  thirteen children born to Francis Lloyd and his wife Fanny (nee Fearnall). In the 1891 census Francis Lloyd, head of the family was 38 and described as a ‘Farmer/Auctioneer’.

The 1901 census places Frank Stuart at Plasmadoc House, Ruabon. This was a small boarding school for girls! Charlotte Booth 66 was the Principal. Her sister Alice 56 was the domestic housekeeper and a third sister, Francis 49 was the school mistress. There were sixteen pupils boarding and four of these were girls named Lloyd (Beatrice 14, Gwendoline 7, Madeline 15 and Constance 13). There were ten other girls and there were two boys. One of the boys was Stuart Lloyd who was 8 and the other was John Booth who was 7.

The 1911 census finds Stuart living at 17 Disraeli Road Putney where he was one of three male boarders living with a Mr and Mrs Johnson. He was listed as being 19 years of age and an ‘auctioneer’ who had been born in Wrexham.

UK Soldiers Who Died in The Great war 1914-19 accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk confirms the regimental details above and it is this source that tells us he ‘Died of Wounds’.

The England and Wales National Probate Calendar of Wills and administrations 1858 – 1966 carries the following entry for 1917.

‘Frank Stuart of Eyton House near Wrexham Denbighshire. Major. Died 5th September 1917 in France. Administration London 1 August to Francis Lloyd Auctioneer. Effects £348..13s..3d. ‘ 

N.B. Frederick Hugh Fearnall was also named on the Bangor on Dee memorial. Question. Was he related to Frank Stuart Lloyd whose mother was born Fearnall?
