Edgar Wilson was born in 1898 and was fist recorded on a census in 1901. He was living with his family at 5 Union Cottages , Flixton, Lancashire. Head of the household was Mary Wilson aged 30. She had been born in Hanmer, Flintshire. The form says she was married but her husband was not listed. There were four children named. William was 9, Maggie 5, Edgar 3 and Arthur 5 months.

The next census of 1911 placed the family in Whitchurch Road, Bangor Isycoed. Head of the houshold was Samuel Wilson, aged 46 and a General Labourer. He was recorded as married but his wife was not listed. He had been born in Denbigh. The listed children in the household were Maggie aged 15, Edgar 13 and Arthur 10. All the children had been born in Carrington, Cheshire.

I believe that Edgar married Margaret Brassey in 1917 in the District of Ellesmere   (This needs further proof). A child was born on the 23rd May 1918. This was  4 months after Edgar’s death in France. The child was Lawrence William Edgar Wilson.

UK soldiers who Died in The Great War 1914 -19 , accessible on www.ancestry.co.uk includes an entry for Edgar Wilson. This tells us that he was born in Carrington. He resided in Penley and enlisted in Shrewsbury.  It confirms all the military details left.

He died from wounds on the 14th January 1918 in France.

The UK register of soldiers’ Effects in which the army calculated what moneys were owed to deceased soldiers,  also on Ancestry, includes an entry for Edgar Wilson. It confirms his regiment, number and death date. A total of £20 .. 12sh .. 0d  was awarded in two separate payments to his sole legatee, his widow Margaret.

A Pension Record Card  dated 1940s suggests that Margaret had remarried and was then Margaret Bronnington. I can find no further evidence of this.
