Meet Bernie our Driver who drove us from Flintshire to Lille brilliantly

It was a grim very early start as the coach left Flint at 5.00 am. By 6.00 am all 40 were aboard the Jones Motor Services coach on our way. The day dawned bright and sunny and it seemed no time at all before we were waving goodbye to the white cliffs of Dover and sailing over the channel which had become a mill pond.

We’re in a nice hotel in the centre of Lille and today we’ll be heading for Ypres and surrounding area where we will be locating as many of our WW1 Flintshire soldiers as we can. We will be laying 2 wreaths today. The first at the wonderful new Welsh Memorial – the huge red dragon and the second this evening at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.

Our group consists of website researchers and their partners and friends.

PS.  Nearly a disaster as we almost forgot Barbara and left her and her bags standing aghast on the pavement in Mold watching the bus pull away WITHOUT HER!
