Biographical Details Known William George was born in 1887 in Liverpool. The 1901 census places him in Maes Derwyn Mold with his family which consisted of his mother, widow Elizabeth 36 (Born in Crewe) and his six siblings Elizabeth 16, Margaret 11 Annie (?) 8, Minnie/Winnie(?) 6, Edith 4 and James 1. The 4 youngest were born in Flintshire but the 3 older ones were born in Liverpool. The handwriting on this form is very difficult to decipher. We can see, however, that the only breadwinner was William George who at 14 was working in the Tin Plate Works.
The 1911 census finds the family at the same address in Mold. Elizabeth says she is 44 and a widow. Living with her are Edith 14 and James 12. There are two additional children Hilda 9 and Louisa 7. There is a lodger Thomas Wilson 55yrs - a farm labourer. We have been unable to trace William George in 1911
His Flintshire Roll of Honour card says he was killed on the Somme on 27th November 1916 and is signed by Mrs E Wilson. Did she marry the lodger?
